The First Spark

Have you felt it? That small burn low in your chest, the one that wakes the closer you get to the thing you've been moving toward, maybe without ever having a name for it. It's been there long enough to be familiar, and deep enough that you've always known it was yours. Some call it purpose. Others call it calling. Either way, it runs steady. It knows your name.

This tier is named for kindling: the quiet gather done before the spark is ever struck. Dry twigs, bark, the work nobody photographs but everyone depends on. Without it, the brightest spark dies on the wind. With it, a fire takes. The wood doesn't need to be taught anything; it only needs to be near enough to catch.

When fires meet, they don't compete. They rise together. Each one brightens the others, shadows recede, the whole circle grows warmer. Some flames flicker; another nearby leans in until the light steadies again. That's the hearth: not a single torch, but many held near enough that no one burns alone.
